No matter your age, you’ll be familiar with both Disney and Pixar. These fantastic studios have created some of the best movies, shorts, and cartoons the world has seen. Consequently, when Disney Dreamlight Valley was released, I knew it would be well received. Furthermore, this is a rare moment where both adults and children can work together to complete a cosy and safe title.

Developed and published by Gameloft SE, this is a life-sim title. What’s more, there are adventure elements, plenty of puzzles, and loads of heartwarming encounters. Therefore, it is perfect for fans of both Disney and Pixar, as well as gamers who enjoy Harvest Moon or Stardew Valley. On top of this, its gentle learning curve makes it the perfect game for older and younger people.

I probably wouldn’t trust a sea witch.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is captivating.

Disney Dreamlight Valley has the potential to be a sickly sweet game that was clichéd and lacking in depth. Fortunately, though, this wasn’t the case. The balance between each personality and the wonderful blend of feel-good dialogue and fun action keeps it lighthearted and enjoyable. What’s more, the life-sim aspects test your creativity and planning, whereas the adventure elements are rewarding and fantastic.

Your avatar has been sent to the Dreamlight Valley after a curse has affected the residents. “The Forgetting” has scared the locals and many of the familiar faces have lost their memories. However, with the help of Merlin, Goofy, Mickey, WALL-E, and more, you can find each special orb and banish the curse forever. Alongside this, you’ll use 4 magical tools to collect resources, attract new friends, and rebuild Dreamlight Valley.

Different realms.

You can’t go wrong with such a dramatic plot. As such, the story ebbs and flows perfectly. Moreover, the drip-fed inclusion of new characters, items, and quests will keep you busy for hours. Alongside this, you are expected to gather resources, build furniture, fish, farm, cook, and entertain people. Additionally, you’ll give each character special tasks to complete as you hang out and improve the valley.

The day-to-day tasks make up the core concept of the action and thankfully, each job is easy to understand and simple to execute. However, opening up unique realms to explore isn’t so straightforward. You are expected to overcome quests, help out each character and collect “Dreamlight”. This invaluable resource is the main currency alongside “Star Coins”. The coins are traded for building upgrades, farming supplies, and so forth. Alternatively, the Dreamlight will remove the “Night Thorns” and unlock each door or expand the village.

Themed realms.

Each new arena increases the map while offering new resources to gather. But that is not all. No, each realm has a specific theme that relates to its owner. Accordingly, fans of each movie will discover fun and cute Easter eggs from their favourite movie or cartoon.

This phenomenal level of detail was appreciated by myself and my family. Furthermore, I enjoyed how each of the character’s personalities impacted the quests on offer. This eye for detail will be appreciated by hardcore fans. Yet, if you aren’t so keen, you’ll still smile at the interesting arena design, the upbeat audio, and the wonderfully written dialogue.

Disney Dreamlight Valley looks amazing.

I’ve mentioned the unique nature of each realm. However, I haven’t alluded to how great every level looks. The developer has done an incredible job of bringing every biome and character to life. Moreover, the blend of ominous and sinister colours and cheery and airy tones is in keeping with the theme and the story. What was also great was the magical edge to every task and how easy it was to navigate the world. With an easy-to-use map and magic wells for fast travel, you can leap from area to area with ease.

Every audio element was a treat. From the incredible acting to the stunning music, it was phenomenal. With familiar songs and incredible soundbites, every character and their story is perfectly portrayed. Alongside this, the fantasy sound effects added magic, and each tool sounded solid. Accordingly, the developers have done a fantastic job with their presentation.

An amazing game for the family.

If you’re a parent, you’ll know the joy and pain of your youngsters playing computer games. Normally, the buttons are too complicated and frustration sets in. Thankfully, Disney Dreamlight Valley is a perfect game to enjoy as a family. With easy-to-execute commands and a simple UI, you can’t go wrong. Furthermore, each task is well laid out and any relevant resources or goods are clearly highlighted.

Life-sim games are time sinks. Unsurprisingly, Disney Dreamlight Valley is no different. With daily tasks to complete, crops to harvest, houses to upgrade, repair, and furnish, friends to play with, and much more, you’ll have more than enough to do. Subsequently, this excellent game will keep adults and children entertained even if the resource gathering reeked of too much grind.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is my guilty pleasure.

Is it wrong that I adored this game? Nah! As such, it quickly became my guilty pleasure, and I cherished assisting each of the cute and adorable personalities. What’s more, the relaxed gameplay, amazing audio, and magical graphics really set the scene. On top of this, it is great if you have children that love Disney or Pixar. Accordingly, I loved it and I recommend that you buy it here! Can you remove the curse and save the day? Complete each mission, make new friends, and rebuild the Dreamlight Valley.
