Microsoft Surface October LIVE Event Reveals Next Generation of Devices

Microsoft held a LIVE ‘Microsoft Surface’ event yesterday evening and unveiled an impressive range of new Surface devices as Microsoft launched a new suite of Microsoft Surface devices which was kicked by the Surface Laptop 3 and Surface Pro 7.

Microsoft Surface Laptop 3

The Surface Laptop 3 comes in two screen sizes with 13 and 15 inch screens. The 13-inch Surface Laptop 3 uses the latest 10th-generation quad-core processors from Intelo where as a surprise comes with the 15-inch version as it will come with a custom AMD Ryzen 7 processor which unexpectedly has Microsoft calling it  their “Ryzen 7 Surface Edition”. Both will come with the new USB-C port for the first time as well as a larger track-pad with one of the slimmest builds for a Surface laptop allowing for an impressive 11.5 hour battery life and a removable top screen to allow for fast and effective servicing when required.

Microsoft Surface Pro 7

The Surface Pro 7 was also unveiled and it brings a good few refinements to previous models as the new Surface Pro 7 improves its laptop-to-tablet versatility by using a laptop-class Intel Core processor and improved battery life. Not much was actually revealed beyond the basic improvements but we do know that it will also come with both USB-C and USB-A ports whilst the improved Surface Pen will allow users to make in-line edits in Microsoft Word with improved voice commands thanks to Studio mics for the Surface Pro 7.

Microsoft Surface Pro X

Microsoft revealed the brand new Surface Pro X which has a rather sleek design and only measuring in at 5.33mm making this the thinnest in the range at with ultimate mobility. The Surface Pro X also comes The Slim Pen which stores securely and recharges in the keyboard, so it’s always at your fingertips. The Surface Pro X will be available from November 19th.

Microsoft Surface Neo

Microsoft was also looking into the future by revealing the new Surface Neo which will not release until holiday 2020. Taking foldable tech to the next level, the Surface Neo comes with two 9” screens, a revolutionary 360° hinge, touch, pen and keyboard. The Neo screens are just 5.6mm thin on both sides and amazingly only weighing just 655 grams. The potential for this device for users who are always on the move is huge so this is a device to definitely keep your eye on over the next year!

Microsoft Surface Earbuds

Microsoft also used the event to unveil its very own Surface earbuds to compliment the new range of Surface devices. Fully wireless, the Surface Earbuds will have full integration with Surface devices and Microsoft Office 365 and Windows 10 with a ‘single click’ pairing with devices. The earbuds have what Microsoft are calling “Omnisonic Sound” and will come with their own charging case. Surface Earbuds will also work with Android devices with the ability to open music based apps so for those looking for an earbud solution and do not use Surface devices, the Surface Earbuds may still be an attractive option and will be available this holiday season.

Microsoft Surface Duo

Microsoft are returning to the mobile phone market with the Surface Duo which looks like a mini Surface Neo and its bigger brother, the Surface Duo will be available from holiday season 2020. Surface Duo is a new dual-screen device that fits in your pocket. With two screens connected by a revolutionary 360° hinge, Surface Duo brings together the best of Microsoft and Android to re-imagine productivity on the go as this partnership with Google will allow Android based apps to fully work on the Duo.
