With the flagship line up for Moto X last year for Motorola, with its third member the Moto X Force (Moto X Play/Style).
The device has an unbreakable screen with a resolution Quad HD and a more modern finish. There is no doubt that this device will go down history of the smartphones as well as many other Motorola devices.
The Moto X Force is the national version of Droid 2 Turbo, launched in partnership with Verizon in the United States. In the USA the device is marketed by Motorola. The Moto X Force costs £499 with 32 GB of internal storage or £534 for 64 GB of internal storage.
The device is now available for purchase via the Motorola website. In addition, Motorola is offering a four year warranty against breakage and splinters on the screen, which can be good news for the less careful users.
Finally, the service Moto Maker will also be available to all users for free, allowing the rear finisher is replaced by the following: Ballistic Nylon, synthetic leather or silicone. The customization of colours, buttons and camera bezel are free at Moto Maker.
Moto X Force – Design & Build Quality
Visual aspect of the Moto X Play and Moto X Style can be found in the Moto X Force a mixture of both, but with some improvements. In a direct comparison with these two devices, with the Moto X Force is more reminiscent of the Moto X Style than the Moto X Play, only a little wider and a new texture on the back. Motorola not saved in the quality of the materials used in the construction of this device, since there is virtually no sign of plastic or any other material other than glass and aluminium.
The unit we tested has the backing of Ballistic Nylon, it has a fully back curve, with Motorola chose a flat surface in the centre and slightly curved sides.
The prominent upper speaker is equal to the Moto X Style, while the inner audio output was positioned inwardly and separated into two parts.
At the top, we have an LED flash warm tone, the same as the Moto X Style. To the right, we have proximity sensors and a notification LED. The device footer are proximity sensors that work in conjunction with Motorola’s software that brings ambient notifications on the display, the Moto screen, according to the movements or the proximity of the user.
Overall, the look of the Moto X Force follows the current standard adopted by Motorola design, I Personally, I found the device nice and very elegant, especially on the back. Everyone who has seen the device with me had the same opinion, beautiful on the back and beautiful at the front.
Motorola decided to escape the trend of fingerprint sensors and backed the development of a technology that has revolutionized the smartphone market. After launching the Moto X Style with a new silicone coating against discolouration and wear natural, and bring IPX7 certification to the Moto G in 2015, we now have a device with unbreakable screen.

Motorola did a great job in building the new 5.4-inch panel with AMOLED technology and resolution 2K (1440 x 2560 pixels – 544 ppi). The construction of a screen into 5 parts reinforced the structure of the display that resists routine impacts. The company called this technology Moto ShatterShield, using 5 layers in their construction.
- External lens Underneath we have an integrated lens that is designed to be more flexible than an ordinary glass. This lens does not affect the colour reproduction or sharpness of the panel, as it has been designed by Motorola to maintain clarity and fidelity of the information displayed on the device.
- This is an external lens that has a protective layer with special coating and resistance to scratches and scrapes. This lens replaces the use of Gorilla Glass, for example, can be easily observed on the device surface as a kind of glass film.
- Unlike other devices, the touch panel is not near the top glass but as a third layer of this set. Motorola decided away from the touch panel of the display device surface to hold the answer to the touch even after a few falls. Instead of losing the sensitivity and the panel just answer the first drop, the dual-touch layer is being protected by the first two layers to ensure a better life to the device.
- Here we have the much-talked flexible screen which technically is called P-OLED. The letter P that anticipates the OLED nomenclature means plastic (Plastic), referencing the flexibility of capacity that panel. This screen ensures that the set of lenses and panels have an improved ability to absorb impacts.
- To ensure greater durability and provide a better support the lens assembly and upper panels, Motorola developed a rigid aluminium chassis. This piece also serves to protect the device’s internal components in the event of sudden drops. Without this part, the pressure of the impact could destroy the components that are interconnected or near the screen.
During the tests I submitted the Moto X Force to falls and provocations pens and other sharp devices. To my surprise the device came out unscathed from all these attacks.
Moto X Force dropped screen down from 1.5 metres and not a mark on the phone, it marked my new floor not the device.
Regarding the sensitivity of the Moto X Force touch panel, since the touch layer is not attached to the P-OLED panel as in other devices using AMOLED technology (not flexible). However, I can assure you the answer touch on the device screen is excellent, with no delays.
The sharpness and the viewing angles are excellent, as the balance of contrast and brightness. The brightness, by the way, is intense and contributes to the readability of the panel in open environments with bright lighting.
Moto X Force – Special Features
It has a resistance to splashing water, just like the Moto X Style, Moto X Force has an internal nano-coating technology that makes it resistant to splashes of water. This technology, however, does not make the tough model submersion or exposure to sweet, salty, hot or cold water. This technology Motorola Moto X Force protects the inside out from accidental water spills.
Application on the Moto X Force
As a legitimate member of the family Moto X, Moto X Force has all the voice commands, gestures and movements characteristic of the series. The processing device set is also similar to other models of Moto line X formed by a natural language processor and other context-aware computing, as well as software integration with these co-processor and proximity sensors, acceleration and movement.
The Moto application is factory installed in the Moto X Force and has the same features that are present in Moto X Play/Style, as the possibility of using the Moto voice in the ear like a call and also traditional features of the Moto Assist.
In addition, the Moto screen is present in the model with all its original features such as going to pass your hand over the device to check notifications and see details of an email without the need to unlock the screen. All Moto application functions worked well in my tests, no exceptions.
Dual-SIM Smart
The software recognizes the best internet connection or carrier signal available to the user is present in the Moto X Force.
Intelligent Dual-SIM works well and can be configured in two steps, the software performs the change between chips looking for better signal or better connection with the possibility of setting up a warning alert to every new change so that it does not occur automatically without user permission.
Moto X Force – Software
The device leaves the factory running with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, but the Marshmallow update was waiting for me when I first turned on the device.

Moto X Force – Performance
The Moto X Force is packaged by processor 810 Snapdragon (MSM8994), eight cores at a frequency of 2.0 GHz, where four of them are Cortex-A53 1.5 GHz and four Cortex-A57 2.0 GHz. The GPU Manning device is the Adreno 430, capable of playing videos in 4K and run games with high level of graphic detail no dropped frames. In these configurations, the device can handle any application or game available in the Play Store, as well as experience with the software be free from freezing, gagging or proprietary interfaces.
I didn’t witness any type of heating while charging the device, camera use or when performing heavier games, for example. It seems that Motorola got along with Snapdraghon 810.
Moto X Force – Audio
The bottom right speaker is a mono speaker, while the bottom left grid is an air outlet and part of the aesthetic balance of the device.
The sound reproduced by this mono output is clean, its does lack a little in treble and bass.
The top speaker plays its role during calls, so that all voices are clearly reproduced. The volume for calls is excellent, even for use with headphones or when in speakerphone mode. It is worth mentioning that the Moto X Force has 5 active microphones and dedicated to noise canceling. For radio fans AM / FM have bad news the Moto X Force does not have a radio, with broadcasting frequencies.
Moto X Force – Camera
The rear camera Moto X Force has 21 MP with f / 2.0 aperture and is accompanied by a flash of dual-tone LED. Simple features have been renamed by trendy names like Zero Shutter, which is nothing more than to capture images without camera software delays, something like “zero delay”. You can record video at 1080p and Ultra HD(4K 2160p) also Slow Mo at 720p (120 fps).

Same picture just zoomed into the bubbles you can still all the detail
The front camera is of 5 MP and has an LED that helps in darker environments. The results are the same as the Moto X Play that we reviewed last year, ie the camera Moto X Force is great for selfies individual and group.
Moto X Force – Battery
The battery Moto X Force is one of the strengths of the model. Motorola has chosen to offer a battery of 3,760, with autonomy for up to 36 hours in moderate use, this according to the manufacturer’s promise. In practice, could reach up to 16 hours in moderate use in 4G and 22 hours on Wi-Fi.
The device is compatible with Turbo Charging technology from Motorola (Turbo Power). The manufacturer offers the charger along with the model kit, and has the same 25W power. The turbo charging Moto X Force can also be used in wireless chargers that are compatible with the same technology, as with the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, for example. Another model differential is wireless charging in standard Qi, which makes it compatible with most wireless market chargers.
The average time reported in our test can vary according to the quality of your internet connection (Wi-Fi / mobile), brightness level and amount of installed applications. The test was performed with the active 4G connectivity as preferred, brightness between 15 and 43% and location disabled most of the time.

The Moto X Force may seem a simple upgrade compared to the Moto Style. There were three years of research and development by Motorola Moto ShatterShield until the technology was available to the consumer. The company broke new ground not only in the construction of the new panel and its strength, but also because it has been able to deliver all this technology in a relatively thin and light device.
The Moto X Force brings together all the advantages of the company’s high-end, but with longer battery life, screen resistant to falls and finished with coatings more options.
