Yesterday Value announced that is it launching its own Linux-based operating system built for living room PC gaming.
The new Value OS is called SteamOS will be available as a free stand-alone operating system for living room machines, Quote from Value “You don’t have to give up your favourite games, your online friends, and all the Steam features you love just to play on the big screen.
“SteamOS, running on any living room machine, will provide access to the best games and user-generated content available.”
Yesterday announcement is the first of three that are due this week, with a further two on 6pm UK time on Wednesday (25th September) and Friday (27th September).
The SteamOS will allow users to stream games from a Windows or Mac-based PC via a home network straight to a TV, with a family sharing option allowing everyone to take turns playing each other’s games and earn their own achievements. Also Value is working with many of the media services you know and love. Soon we will begin bringing them online, allowing you to access your favourite music and video with Steam and SteamOS.
