Over the last few months, Nikon have been running something they call the Nikon 1 V2 Speed Project.

The Nikon 1 V2 Speed Project is a series of three short films, each one following a photographer as they demonstrate speed in a creative way. Through images and videos they use the Nikon 1 V2 to capture the excitement and spontaneity of their subject.

The three photographers involved in this project were chosen because speed is so important to their work but in different ways. The first two films go behind the scenes with street photographer Nina Berman and fashion photographer John Wright. A third film with motorsports photographer Danie van Jaarsveld completes the series.

Here is a video that explains it more:

Danie van Jaarsveld

In this film we follow self-confessed motorsports obsessive and photographer Danie van Jaarsveld on the job at the Total Rally in Durban, South Africa. We see how speed in all senses of the word is essential for Danie. The light weight portability of the Nikon 1 V2 enables Danie to navigate often extreme conditions, get through small spaces and not miss a beat of the race.

John Wright

Follow fashion and celebrity photographer John Wright on set as he shoots his first film for designer Corrie Nielsen, ‘All in the Forgotten’. With the beautiful backdrop of Syon Park House in West London, John Wright brings his vision to life and embraces the storytelling aspect of his art. Talking us through his transition from photography to filmmaking and the tools he needs, John explains how for this kind of shoot the Nikon 1 V2 is an integral part of this kit.

Nina Berman

Nina Berman is an award winning documentary photographer on an endless pursuit to capture a perfect moment. As part of the Nikon 1 V2 speed project, Nina takes to the streets of Manhattan, New York — a city already steeped in street photography history — to show how she catches the buzz of the city and frenzy of its workers as they emerge from subways and stations at rush hour.
