Respawn Entertainment’s new title is known as Titanfall and it will be coming to Xbox One, PC and Xbox 360, and is the cover of the next issue of Game Informer, according to the Google Play store (which has now been deleted).
The game is apparently a multiplayer shooter with no offline mode. It’ll include matches for up to 16 players as well as including AI-controlled enemies, such as Titans which take the form of giant exoskeletons.
Respawn told Game Informer that the reason this title is not coming to PlayStation is because “it thought it would prove too difficult to also make its first game for PlayStation platforms as it only had a relatively small team and wanted to focus its energy on creating the best possible product.”
So Microsoft’s cash had nothing to do with it then? “That’s not to say we won’t [go multiplatform] in the future, but for our first game we wanted to focus on making the best game we could,” Respawn concluded.
The game is said to be due for release in Spring 2014. Expect a load more details on this game at Microsoft’s and/or EA’s press conference. Titanfall will run on Valve’s Source engine, which has been partly rewritten for next-generation systems, and is said to run at 60 frames-per-second.Certain SmartGlass and Kinect functionality will be available on Xbox platforms.
