Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection could launch on the next-generation Xbox, Hideo Kojima has suggested. Explaining its absence from the Xbox 360, Kojima told his online radio listeners (via Kotaku) that Metal Gear Solid 4 is too big for the console’s DVD disc format.
Releasing Metal Gear Solid 4 on the Xbox 360 would require anything up to seven discs, it was revealed.
“I want to put it out [on the Xbox 360], but we won’t be releasing it,” Kojima explained.
“When it’s the next [Xbox] console, maybe we can release it. If we released a version on the Xbox 360 without MGS4, then it’s not The Legacy Collection,” he added.
Announced last month, the upcoming Legacy Collection contains Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: HD Edition, Metal Gear Solid 3: HD Edition, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD Edition, Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions and Metal Gear Solid 4: Trophy Edition.
Releasing to celebrate the 25-year anniversary of the Metal Gear franchise, the package also includes two digital graphic novels from Ashley Wood.
Last year’s Metal Gear Solid HD Collection contained remastered versions of Metal Gear Solid 2, 3 and Peace Walker.
