Today LG has begun taking pre-orders for its ground-breaking curved OLED television. The 55-inch set will begin touching down in living rooms in the company’s native South Korea next month, before arriving in other markets later in the year.
Showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) earlier this year, the 55EA9800 is said to provide the ideal platform for panoramic viewing and taking in nature scenes.
The set, which measures in at 4.3mm in depth and weighs 17kg, comes loaded with LG’s WRGB and Colour Refiner technology to optimise imagery for its unique display.
“Our Curved OLED TV is not only the proof of LG’s unmatched leadership in next-generation displays but also a testament to LG’s commitment to bringing to market the most exciting TV technology available today,” said LG president Havis Kwon.
Samsung also showed off an OLED television set with a curved display at CES, but is yet to announce a release date for the product.
The 55EA9800 is available to purchase for 15 million KRW (£8,720).
