A new recruitment ad from Microsoft seems to back up one of the rumoured details for the next Xbox, namely that it will include X86 architecture. The ad for an Xbox software development engineer at Microsoft, spotted by OXM – asks for experience with the x86 architecture, marking it as ‘desirable’.
It’s interesting to note that if the X86 architecture was to be included it would appear that this would make backwards compatibility less likely?. Also, with Microsoft said to be giving the next Xbox a more windows-based focus, it would make complete sense to use a PC style processor, would it not?
