Yes more rumours about the Next Generation Xbox but this time the Kinect 2.0 will detect eye movement, a report has suggested. Using Kinect 2.0, users will apparently be able to pause entertainment content by looking away from the TV screen.
The latest report by The Verge suggests that the enhanced Kinect device will also be able to detect multiple users simultaneously, and will play a big part in Microsoft’s plans for TV.
Similar to Google TV, the Xbox 720 is said to be capable of introducing Microsoft UI and features to existing TVs and set-top boxes.
The report follows Microsoft’s decision to sell its TV solution Mediaroom business to Ericsson.
Microsoft executive Yusuf Mehdi announced on the company’s blog that Xbox will serve as the centre of it home entertainment strategy following the sale of Mediaroom.
“With the sale of Mediaroom, Microsoft is dedicating all TV resources to Xbox in a continued mission to make it the premium entertainment service that delivers all the games and entertainment consumers want – whether on a console, phone, PC or tablet,” he said.
Alleged Xbox 720 patent filings suggest Microsoft’s next console will feature two CPUs, one for gaming and another for multimedia applications.
It is claimed that the Xbox 720 will launch during the 2013 holiday season and feature Kinect 2.0, 3D technology and the long-rumoured Xbox TV.
