If you want to use authentication, fill in the user name and password to use. I opted to not use this, so left it blank. Click Next.

I’m using thin provisioning here for flexibility and assigned part of the RAID to this LUN. I also named the LUN. Click Next.

Confirm your settings, click Next to finish up.

Voila! We have an iSCSI target to point Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials at! Click Finish.

It shows up in the target list.

OK!  We are now done on the QNAP side.  Next step:  Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials.
