Using the 2big NAS
You will see that the front of the 2big NAS has a blue light on when the power is enabled, this is not just a power light, it is also the power button.
Using the Network Assistant
The Network Assistant is a tool used to perform some configuration and usage tasks.
When you open the shares on your computer you can easily drag and drop items into them, as long as you have the correct permissions.
Using the Dashboard
The majority of the configuration and settings are performed using the Dashboard, which is a web-based interface that controls everything from user accounts and shares, to firmware updates and network information.
The first time you use it you have to create an admin password. You can also choose to syncronise time from an Internet time source – I find it easier to do this than to worry about changing it whenever the clocks change.
The Home page on the Dashboard had a series of buttons and windows, Each of these windows can be closed if you don’t use them, or moved around into a different position if you find it easier. Everything you need to do configure your 2big NAS can be done from here.
There are many different options screens used for enabling or disabling features and functions and changing settings. I won’t go into each of them here, but below are a series of screenshots that will show you all of the screens with their features which will give you a very good idea of what can be done with the 2big.
