I just did the BIOS update and that made the fan noise WORSE. Before it was an easily ignorable, mostly constant whirr. Now the fan is being switched on and off. When it comes on it is very noticeable and annoying. It’s well known that abrupt changes attract our attention. That’s what is happening here.
Looks as if Toshiba has dropped the ball again on fan noise. Get some competent engineers to fix it.
Meanwhile back to the previous BIOS

I agree with Neil. Fan noise was still bearable before this BIOS update. It is WORSE now 🙁 very disappointed with the bios update
I just installed the new Bios and basically the fan noise has stopped when using the laptop lightly
