Then you install the Powerline Utility.
When you go into the utility you can see information about your devices – including MAC address, signal quality and rate. As you can see I was getting 196Mbs, which was great!
You can also reset the devices or upgrade the firmware from here.
You can set up a private network if you wish.
And even use QoS!
Check diagnostics….
Final Thoughts
These powerline devices are fantastic!
They are small, very easy and quick to setup (if you don’t want to add security or anything else you can just plug them in and be using them in a matter of minutes).
The house I live in is quite old and so there are certain rooms, and certain parts of other rooms that just don’t get a very good wireless signal (if it all) so I have no choice other than to use powerline kit. Up until now I have had mixed results with speed. That is until the TP-LINK ones!
Speed wise I was getting 196Mbs, which I was extremely pleased with. In fact, this is the fastest I have managed to get out of any powerline adaptor so far (and I use the same power sockets connected to the same end devices). I was expecting, or rather I should say I was hoping for around the 125Mbs+ mark (its quite an old house with old wiring), so 196Mbs was way above my hope!
I could stream HD quality from my Windows Home Server upstairs, to my media center downstairs and it worked perfectly for the whole viewing experience. Not one blip!
The inclusion of a three year warranty was also good!
The price for the starter kit is £49.99, although have a look around as Amazon are selling it for £37.99, which is a bargain!
I cannot recommend these highly enough – if you want great, fast, easy to use (did I mention fast) powerline devices, then look no further than the TP-LINK AV200’s!
Check out the TP-Link website for more informationDo you use powerline kit? What do you think of it?

How is this a review??
I was hoping to get an opinion on the use and reliability all is see is the same info they advertise on their website?
Advertorial?
did you actually read pages 2 and 3 of the review where you will find what you were looking for. It sounds to me like you stopped reading at the end of the 1st page!
Not really easy to actually see that there are more than one site. Maybe make the buttons bigger?
Anyway, thnaks for the review, looking forward to picking these up this weekend and instead of cabling all around the house! Keep up the good work.
Like you, we have an old house and we have thick walls. Finally just upgraded from an ethernet router to wi-fi and we’re looking to get hold of some power line adapters for the “hard to reach” corners of the house. Might just give these a try.
Presumably you can use more than just two at a time? We have two desktop pcs to connect that the wi-fi either won’t reach or is a bit dodgy at times.
Yes, you can use more than two – I have had four running at one point!
Hi I have bought 2 more but cannot link the 3rd to the previous pair. Can I reset and start again, or is there another problem in running 3 or more
Thanks PK
hi – you should contact TP-Link for support in this instance.
Hi PK,
This is Howard from TP-LINK Support Force.
Please install the utility in CD and then you can reset all of the TL-PA211.
Since they’re all in default values, they can communicate with each other.
Hi there
I have 2 plugs installed and the utility doesnt see either of them. I tried installing a third with the push button method but the Powerline light just doesnt come on. Any ideas?
hi Greg
Im not sure – I just plug mine in and they work great. Might be worth contacting TP-Link support for guidance.

The 2 plugs installed at present work fine.
can you use them with other adapters as we already have two from a previous setup and wondered whether they`d connect or not?
I think you may be able to – unfortunately I cant test that, but you could contact TP-Link and ask them.
