There is also a DisplayPort connector and a USB connector for power.

You can also buy different adaptors, such as the mini DisplayPort adaptor.

Just connect up your displays and switch them on – nothing to it really.

Here’s a short video on how it works:

Final Thoughts

The device is quite small and doesn’t weigh much, so it can be tucked away nicely out of the way. The power comes from the USB connector so that means no extra power supply to connect, which is a good thing, as if you are 3 monitors you already have enough power supplies and cables plugged in!

I found it really easy to use, although I would warn you the larger the monitors you have, the lesser the quality can become. For example, I tried it with two monitors – a 30” and a 26”. The quality on the 26” was perfect, but the quality on the 30” wasn’t so great. Now this is not the fault of the device, it was because the device is expanding your desktop, and so it has to work at a certain resolution (as can see above) and so that lower resolution just doesn’t look that great on a larger monitor. Ok, your graphics card also plays a major part here. If, for example, on the desktop I used for the test, I wanted to keep my normal 1920 x 200 resolution, I would need a graphics card that supported 3840 x 1200, and in my case, my graphics card didn’t support it, hence the display issues.

The maximum my graphics card would support is 2560 x 1600 which would only give me a maximum of 1280 x 1024 when using two monitors. Make sense?

Using two smaller monitors provided a perfect display and I was using it in no time at all.

So, if you have multiple monitors of the same size, and they are not huge 30” beasts, and you have a graphic card that supports a really high resolution, then this could certainly work very well for you.

The price of the adaptor is £199.00, which may sound quite expensive, but actually works out very reasonable when you think you can use up to three displays from an existing graphics card or laptop (as long as it has a DisplayPort adaptor that is).
