Recording TV and Playback via USB

This is the best feature of the TV – PPR. This stands for Plug, Play and Record.

If you have a USB thumb drive or an external drive (larger than 1GB but smaller then 500GB, and formatted to FAT32) you can record live TV and either play it back on the TV later, or play it back on a computer. So you could take it with you!

You have to ensure the TV is switched off before you plug in the USB device.

Then switch the TV on and either find a channel and press the record button, or pick something from the EPG.

One thing you need to be aware of is that this is a LIVE TV recording capability, so you can only record what you are watching. If you try to change the channel you are warned that you must stop the recording first.

You also can only record/watch one thing at a time.

It’s easy to stop a recording if you want to though.

To play back on the TV itself, you just select Recordings Library from the memory, then choose what you want to watch.

It was good to see information about the recording was shown as well, so not just a name.

If you want to watch your recordings on your computer, you can easily. Just plug in the USB device into your computer, and open up the DVR folder.

Select the RECS folder.

And just choose what you want to watch.

Don’t worry that the names don’t really tell you much – if you open the relevant .TXT file you will see information on the recording.

And then it plays perfectly!

An hour of recording takes about 2GB of space, so keep that in mind when decided how much you think you will want to record.
