While at the Microsoft Campus last week for the MVP Summit, I had the opportunity to take a tour of the Microsoft Home, and it was very cool!
Here is how Microsoft describe the Home:

Located on Microsoft Corp.’s Redmond, Wash. campus, the Microsoft Home is a place to explore technology scenarios that could transform the way we live in five to 10 years. Built as a full-scale model home in the company’s Executive Briefing Center, the Home is used to explore practical applications of cutting-edge technical trends, and exhibit futuristic prototype technologies to a variety of industry and government leaders, partners and customers.
The technology scenarios in the latest update to the Home center around three thematic areas: more natural interaction with technology; intelligence in everyday things; and the coming together of the physical and digital worlds. The technologies illustrate how computing will increasingly work on your behalf rather than at your command through a variety of immersive and content-rich experiences.
The Home was first opened in September 1994 by Craig Mundie, chief research and strategy officer at Microsoft Corp. Like any house, the Microsoft Home undergoes periodic remodels, which allow the company to explore new concepts and graduate those that are becoming reality.
A Look Around the Home
Unfortunately we were not allowed to take our own pictures or videos in the house, so here are the press pictures for you to look at:
A Video of the Home
The home is amazing, there is no other way to describe it. What is really cool is that a lot of what is in the home is possible in the very near future, and not just something in the realms of Star Trek.
This ranged from a voice activated front door, to a watch that monitors your health while you wear it and then uploads the data to your medical file and even makes suggestions when you want to cook something that you have something healthy.
If you ever get an opportunity to visit the Microsoft Home, I highly recommend it.
I want to know when I can move in?
I just wanted to say a big thank you to Claire for arranging the tour and for Microsoft for allowing us to have a look around.
