Often when I am on the Digital Lifestyle Show podcast, we talk about streaming media to different devices and it is topic that is very interesting. Mysticgeek over at the HomeServerShow.com has posted a really interesting article on steaming media from your V1 Windows Home Server to your Apple iOS device using the ZumoCasta software.

If you’re looking for a way to stream all of your media content on WHS to your iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad one of the easiest ways I’ve found is ZumoCast. You don’t need to install any software on your server, and it works very well.

ZumoCast is a free app and will play your videos, music, and other media content on your home network. You can stream your content over Wi-Fi, and even a 3G connection and works with Windows or Mac.

For this article we’re using WHS Version 1 with an iPod Touch 4th Gen running iOS 4.1 on a home Wi-Fi network.

You can read the rest of the article here.

Thanks Mysticgeek, I’m going to play around with this one myself now!

  1. I'm really enjoying ZumoCast. One of the main reasons I use it and not VLC or the others is because you can copy a file to the ZumoCast app without syncing. I have copied a few DVD rips over to it so we can watch them on the go. Transfers via your wifi without syncing!

  2. Yup! The coolest thing about it is there isn't an entire syncing process and you can access your media files almost instantly after you get the desktop software setup.
