Quick Look at the Sony Internet TV Powered by Google TV

Sony recently launched their first Internet TV Powered by Google TV and I got to see and play with one while on holiday in Florida recently.

This week on the Digital Lifestyle Show podcast Ian ask me about my thoughts on the Sony Internet TV.

I have to say that I really liked it – a lot! The picture quality was fantastic and the interface seemed very slick.

The remote control was a little different – looking like, as Ian Dixon put it, a DyMo Label Maker, but it was surprisingly easy to use. You hold it in both hands and use your thumbs to press buttons – and it felt quite natural doing so.

Unfortunately this Sony TV isn’t likely to show up any time soon in the UK, which is a real shame.

Ian asked if I thought people would buy one to replace existing TVs and computers connected to those TVs. I think the honest answer to that is no. Unless you have an older TV you wanted to replaced I don’t think its likely that this will offer you enough to warrant replacing all your existing kit. However, if you do need to replace it, then you really should consider this!

To learn more about the features and see some demos and pictures, visit the Sony Internet TV website.

Have you got one or played with one? What do you think?
