My friend and fellow MVP Kevin Royalty recently presented about Windows Home Server Vail at the Great Cleveland PC Users Group.
Here is what the GCPCUG said about the event:
At the October 2010 general meeting, Kevin Royalty from Total Care Computer Consulting demonstratedMicrosoft’s Windows Home Server (WHS) for us. Kevin, who is a Microsoft MVP, showed how WHS can fill a variety of needs for small businesses and in the home. He demonstrated
- Backing up individual computers
- Remote access
- Sharing files on the network
- Streaming photos, videos and music over the network & on the internet
Kevin also demonstrated what changes & improvements are coming in version 2 of WHS when it comes out in 2011. Along the way, he gave up several tips & tricks for getting even more out of WHS. Even the Mac fans in attendance were impressed by the presentation.

The presentation files are worth downloading, and those of you who attended the 2nd UK Windows Media Center and Windows Home Server Users Group meeting earlier this year, might recognise the 2nd presentation file 🙂 This is what the community is all about, even down to sharing presentations – and thanks for leaving the UWHS logo’s in, we can never have enough publicity.
You can also view a video interview Kevin gave on the site as well.
So WHS2 is confirmed for 2011? Last I'd heard they were still projecting end of 2010.

Nothing has been "officially" stated but given we are half way through October its doubtful its going to be this year!
