FINAL THOUGHTS AND CONCLUSION

I’ve been using the MS2UT now for a few months – both as just a drive enclosure and also using the various RAID options.

It is very simple to set up and use and I often forget it was even plugged in. It is very small, and quiet and can sit anywhere out of the way.

The quick guide tells you everything you need to know, but I think it might have been an idea to explain a little more about the various RAID levels for those who are not necessarily familiar with them. The SAFE33 and SAFE50 options, where a portion of the volume is used for mirroring and the rest is used for spanning is very nice.

The little keys used to open the drive bays could easily get lost, although a paper clip could be used to open them in that event. Or you could do what I did which was to tape a key to the underside of the unit just in case.

In case you were wondering, the +B means that there are no drives included in the pack. You can buy it with drives if needed.

Cost wise, you can pick this up for less than $140, which if you want to have a data protection solution is quite cheap.

All in all, I liked the MS2UT and will continue to use it for various tasks and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone who wants a cheap and easy solution. You can even buy a device that supports more than 2 drives if you want.
