So as you may have noticed, we have made a few changes to Using Windows Home Server over the last few days. We even started talking about them over the weekend.
There are a few things you can see – such as the very cool new logo, and the way the posts are shown on the main screen, plus the general look and feel of the site has changed.
There are also a number of back end changes that have been made that you cant see – but trust me they are there!
A few people have asked me who did the logo – his name is Craig Haggart and he is a genius 🙂
If you need design work done, then you really should contact Craig – this guy worked with a broken ankle and through the night to get the changes done – thanks buddy! Take a look at his website for more information : http://www.goinnovate.co.uk/
So, what do you all think of the new logo and the site?
I think Tim likes the new logo 🙂 Or is it just my imagination?
You may recall that here at UWHS, we love to give things away – and over the last year we have given a lot – and believe me when I say we have a lot of giveaways planned, so stay tuned!
Anyway, to celebrate the new look, we want to do another giveaway. This time we want to hear from you about what you think of the new look (leave a comment here) and also what you would like to see changed or added, and general ideas for the site (for this one, email andrew @ usingwhs.com remembering to remove the spaces).
The best comments and the best ideas will each win some cool prizes. And for now I will leave you guessing what they might be, but if someone comes up with an idea that is so cool, and just has to implemented, they might just win a very cool prize indeed!
So, leave a comment here about what you think of the new site, and email me with your ideas for making the site even better. You never know, you may even win some prizes!

Andrew,
I was gone on vacation and when I returned I noticed my daily website had a very needed facelift. I did not realize it needed a facelift until I saw the update.
Well done!
Todd
thanks Todd 🙂
Andrew
The site looks great, pretty hip and now. I feel like someone just handed me a sweet almond butter and jelly sandwich.
now you are making me hungry 🙂
Andrew
I like it a lot. It seems more in keeping with the current 'black' look to most of the tech kit around. It certainly wouldn't look out of place on the outside of the Xtreamer case.
thanks Dave 🙂
hmmm, a branded Xtreamer – now theres an idea!
Andrew
Why is the banner so high. The header of the first article is halfway down the page. Or is it me?
Hi John
Im not sure what you mean? I included an image of the logo in the article to show it off
is that what you mean?
Andrew
The new design looks great. Very creative integration of the hot swap hard drive stack inside the U.
🙂 I loved that, and I didnt even suggest it to Craig, he came up with that himself!
Andrew
I have only been using your website for about 4 months now but it is now a site I visit daily. I have installed 2 addins due to your site. Then to my surprise you went and made the site look amazing. The new logo is tight and the page layout is sweet. Keep up the outstanding work!
thank you 🙂
Andrew
The gradient on the logo looks bad.
Raiden
Can you be a bit more specific? I dont see a problem with the logo at all.
thanks, Andrew
I think the site is great. Very easy on the eyes and just enough color to break out of the "Whiteout" effect.
I personally like the logo with the gradient.
thanks – glad you like it 🙂
Andrew
I like the new banner and logo, but the banner is so tall now that it really takes away from the visible content and adds the need to scroll more (maybe just shrink that down to closer to the logo size?)
Also, looking at the content sections, the articles seem to all blur together, may be nice to have some kind of separator between article end and the next heading.
Would be nice to have a "recent headlines" widget on the right which shows recent posts when you are in specific other sections.
Overall it looks really good though, keep up the good work!
How small is your screen? lol.
Logo looks coooool 🙂
You show a bunch of YouTube videos, that takes extra time and effort, thanks for that. I see it as a bonus reason to visit your site.
I'm not commenting so I can win a prize. In fact because I write for you now and then I would perfer not to be included in the giveways. It would just look bad if I did win so don't put my hat my the ring.
But I do want to comment again that I really do like the new look. Also could you email me the new logo since it appears I need a new look for my wallpaper 🙂

I like the look! Just one comment regarding browser compatibility. I'm stuck using IE6 on a work computer and the top menu line is barely readable. It is semi-ok, because the choices glow when you hover over them, however the 2nd menu line is not very friendly, because the items actually fade to black when I hover over them.
I'll try again at home with later version and Firefox.
Hi Carl
How did you get on with Firefox and a later browser?
Im not seeing any problems on FF or IE8 so it must be an IE6 thing….
Andrew
Almond butter what? And where is the MGD theme you promised me?
dudes, it looks like something outa the 22nd century!
