So, those of you with an HP MediaSmart Windows Home Server that isn’t running the version 3.0 software are probably wondering what has happened to the update?

It was supposed to be out by the end of last year, and it didn’t arrive. We posted an update back in December.

Last night we had an email from HP giving us an update on their update.

The following updates have been made:

· The upgrade process is now compatible with PowerPack 3 and Windows 7 machines.

· The media streaming process has been updated with the latest version of the PacketVideo media streamer.

HP are saying that is there are no further problems in this final stage of testing then the update should be available for order on HP.com later this month.

So if you want to run the MediaSmart Server 3.0 software on HP MediaSmart Server EX470/475 and EX485/487 models watch this space.

So fingers crossed, and we will keep you updated.

  1. Man i seriously hope they continue to provide support for us early adopters. I love my ex475… specially now that i have done the proc and memory upgrades.

(I can post a link to a great tutorial if its okay with this sites admins.. tho google works wonders.)

anyway… HP seriously needs to continue to support us. if it wasn't for us early adopters creating buzz about the media smart servers and WHS in general idk that the community would be as strong as it is..

Im totally looking forward to this upgrade, hopefully itll be the greatest thing since sliced bread.

  2. one thing that isn't clear on most of the write-ups is the feature in Photo Webshare for other remote users to upload pictures remotely is a part of the new photo program in 3.0 version

  3. I just got my NewEgg special and will wait to set it up until I can order the new software. It looks so sad not plugged in. My old OEM keeps chugging along not knowing it is moving to the garage!
