The very first Kirby game was released 25 years ago and Nintendo is planning on celebrating in style. With that in mind, Nintendo is kicking off the celebrations with the release of the free-to-start Team Kirby Clash Deluxe title on the Nintendo 3DS.

The title is an expansion of a mode that could be found in the excellent Kirby: Planet Robobot. It consists of up to four players taking on various well known enemies in different stages via local play or making use of up to three AI controlled characters. Each of the stages is split up into four missions and medals can be earned for those that do exceptionally well whilst completing them.

Each of the characters can have a role assigned to it, such as Hammer Lord with his brute force and Doctor Healmore who can heal other characters. Fragments can be collected to craft armour/weapons and level up characters. Gem Apples, which are earned by completing a level, can be used to craft new gear and unlock new quests. These gems also serve to provide energy to the characters being used by the player.

It’s worth stating that whilst Team Kirby Clash Deluxe is a free-to-start title, it also comes with in-app purchases.

Team Kirby Clash Deluxe is out now on Nintendo 3DS.
