Have you ever wanted to build your own handheld gaming device? Well now you can with the Gamer Kit from Technology Will Save Us, and here is our two minute review.
The Gamer Kit is a games console that you can build and code yourself to learn about electronics and programming. Out of the box, you can play and hack classic games, such as snake and flappy bird. Then, learn how to code your own games following step-by-step tutorials.
What’s in the box and a closer look?
The box contains everything need, well almost, you still need a 9V battery.
Once you have put the Gamer Kit together there are lots of different projects you can download from the Technology Will Save Us website the you can then play on the kit.
There are three different variants of the Gamer Kit available: the pre-soldered kit for £90 (which is the one we are reviewing), a kit that you have to solder yourself for £70 and a kit that doesn’t include an Arduino for £50, so depending on your level of expertise you can choose the one that is best suited for what you want.
It’s very simple to put the Gamer Kit together and get running. Everything you need, with the exception of that 9V battery is included in the box, and there are numerous tutorials available to help you get started. There are also lots of games already available that you can download and run.
The possibilities are literally endless with hours and hours of fun to be had and lots to be learnt.
This is a great piece of kit to get someone interested in both electronics and coding. It’s for ages 10 and up and would make a great Valentines present for the geek in your life!
