Sony is introducing DualShock 3 support to its Xperia line of smart devices, according to a report. Tech blogger Tom Randall demonstrated the PlayStation 3 controller’s functionality with the Xperia SP in a recent YouTube video.
“Sony has created a piece of software for its Xperia smartphone range that will let you connect a DualShock 3 wireless controller just like on your console,” he explained.
“[This will allow] you to play hundreds of titles optimised for gamepad from either the Google Play Store or PlayStation Mobile.”
DualShock 3 control for Android tablets and smartphones was previously achievable, but only if the device was rooted.
Randall went on to say that the Xperia SP will launch with DualShock 3 support, and speculated that the feature could come to other Xperia devices in the future.
